The photographs in this section represent some of the unique and rare items which are part of the private collection of Lloyd Swackhammer, VE3IIA and are currently on display at the Hammond Museum of Radio.

Lloyd, a member and past president of the London Vintage Radio Club, started his own business in Guelph in 1939 repairing radios. In 1941, Lloyd joined the Royal Canadian Air Force becoming a Sargeant in charge of the Trenton wireless shop operation. He was transferred overseas to the UK to work on Halifax and Lancaster bombers. Upon his discharge after VJ day, Lloyd returned to Guelph and eventually joined the staff of CW Kelly TV and Appliances where he worked repairing radios and televisions for 17 years. He then worked as an electronic technologist for the University of Guelph where he taught for 20 years.

Lloyd doesn't really know how his collection got started but he has over the years collected 800 antique radios.

The Fleming Bell console model is the rarest of pieces in Lloyd's collection and is part of the display at the museum.
